For many people, blogging is a great way to share thoughts and meet new friends. Through blogs, you can share knowledge and create a social community. Nowadays, however, blogs can be more than just a tool for information sharing. With a little patience and diligence, a blogger can make money online through his blog.

Introducing Google AdSense

Google AdSense is an ad distribution program that allows regular bloggers like you and me earn additional income by displaying sponsored links. AdSense is a CPC (Comission-Per-Click)-based advertising, meaning you get paid every time someone clicks on a sponsored link displayed on your blog.

For Publishers

An advantage of joining AdSense is that it displays targeted links that are usually in relevance with the content of your blog. For you, this could mean more revenue. However, displaying relevant ads could also mean that sometimes AdSense will serve the ads of your competitors. Thankfully, you can opt to use the competitor filter that allows you to input up to 200 competitor URLs to prevent AdSense from displaying them.

adsense setup

Another strong point of AdSense is that it allows you to format how ads are displayed on your blog. Ads are placed in different sized boxes and depending on your choice, AdSense will display one to 5 ads in it. You can also choose different colors for the background and font color in order to make the ads “blend” with your blog’s layout and color scheme. In contrast, you can also make them to stand out from the rest of your content.

Rates

At AdSense, the rates for each click may vary depending on a number of factors, including the content of your blog and how much an advertiser bids on your blog. You may make somewhere from 5 cents to as high as $15 per click. AdSense will automatically pay you a check every time you earn at least $100 in your account by check or western union for selected countries.

adsense report

To make it easier for you to check your earnings, AdSense provides daily statistics that reports the number of daily clicks and daily payout amount. You can also create up to 200 channels for each of the ads displayed on your blog and create custom reports. Unfortunately though, Google does not publish how much they earn from the total income. The reason for this part is unknown, however, it should not prevent you from joining AdSense.

Joining AdSense

To join AdSense, first you need to have a launched website with acceptable content, in this case a blog. The beauty of AdSense is you only need one account for multiple blogs.

Perhaps a downfall of AdSense is it has many requirements that you need to fulfill in order to join. Be sure to check out their Program Policies before you join to ensure application success.

In summary, AdSense is a great way for blogger to make money online. Despite some of the disadvantages found in AdSense, it is still quite reliable and is a great solution for bloggers to earn additional income. With its many great qualities, AdSense is still by far the best compared to similar CPC-based programs.

Google Adsense is till the best money making scheme for me. We must be careful though not to violate the terms and conditions of adsense since Google, I think, is still the KING of the internet.
