How to activate your E*Trade Visa Platinum Debit Card has been view 14 views
There are 4-5 people email me tell that they successful open the etrade account and get the Visa Platinum Debit Card. They also manage to withdraw paypal to their e*trade account. But now, they asking me, “shah, how to activate the card?” So here I list the way you can activate your etrade Visa Platinum Debit Card.
First is the hardest way and for me a stupid way to activate the Visa Platinum Debit Card by calling etrade at 1-866-861-5412 and follow their instruction. I have tried this way and call them but in the system asking my SSN but I’m Malaysian and there no way I have a SSN so after 2 times I got enter the wrong number, the system forward me to the operator but in the end the etrade operator don’t understand my English slang. 2 times I call them, but they tell me they don’t understand what I say. Argh…tension. So I decide to email them and asking if there are another way to activate etrade Visa Platinum Debit Card.
Guess what? You can activate etrade Visa Platinum Debit Card at any ATM terminal that has PLUS logo. Just put the card to ATM and press your PIN. Done!!! Also, when you get a letter contain your etrade Visa Platinum Debit Card PIN number, please checked there is a 16-digit reference number that is valid for 90 days in that latter. You can use that 16-digit reference number to change your etrade Visa Platinum Debit Card PIN. Just call 866-835-5144 and follow the instruction.

hi, i have received the debit card from etrade. the problem is, the debit card that i received is still using a mangetic strip instead of chip-based card. did you get the same card also? our ATM here in Malaysia doesnt use this type of card anymore.

hi, i wonder how do you withdraw your money via ATM machine in Malaysia. As far as i know, our all ATM here are using chip-based card. I have already emailed etrade. They have replied to me that they do not have chip-based card. All are magnetic strip type. Please advice.

I also have the same debit card from etrade and i cannot even check my balance at ATM of Maybank, Ambank, RHB , Public Bank and even Hong Leong Bank. Please can someone kind enuf to show me the way to withdraw money. Thanks

hi Filex Robert, you can use Malaysia ATM. just insert you etrade card. me and other has sucessfull use that card at Malaysia ATM.

hi Ethan, insert the card into ATM. key in your 4 digit pin and press enter. after that choose credit card and choose withdraw. That the step i use in Affin bank ATM. Sorry because in my place only Affin bank atm available

hi Shah, i have tried to activate the card via the ATM but failed to activate it. i called etrade US, they activate it immediately within a minute. by the way, i have tried using the debit card and it works perfectly. thanks for your info.

I got my debit card. According to the instruction I must activate it by phone. I’ve tried but no luck. So I’m thinking by using it at ATM can activate it immediately. But I don’t have the PIN number. Is there another letter (with PIN number) that I’ll receive? Besides what is the Telemaster PIN number?

Hi, I had open an account with e-trade and make an order for a debit card. Do I have to make any deposit before they send me the card?

sammy, in my situation, i deposit some money to my etrade account. i’m not sure if etrade will send the card if you don’t deposit some money. better make a deposit first. Not USD 1000, but just small amount of money. like one of my reader siad they managed to get the visa platinum card after deposit USD 20 to etrade account.

How can I activate etrade debit card through the phone? All that I did was call +1- 866-835-5144 and they asked me to put in reference number. What’s my reference number? And then they said “followed by pal or pan”. What is that?
I’ve tried to activate it using ATM machine but I can’t see my balance.

i have just send my E*trade application form. I would like to know, how do i want to wire transfer to E*Trade? Do i need to use the wire transfer form provided by the E*Trade or i just wire transfer using Western Union or Money Gram.
Is there any otherway to fund E*Trade for activation other than using Paypal?
